A message from Spirit CEO, Ted Christie

From Spirit

What a year it’s been. The pandemic has had a profound impact on the world, our industry and our lives. Like so many, we’ve faced tough moments and had to respond to new challenges. It’s been heartening to see the innovative solutions and acts of kindness brought on by these difficult times. I’m especially proud of our Spirit Family and their focus on taking care of you, our Guests, our communities and each other. Recovery is slow, and we have a lot of work ahead of us, but I have some positive updates to share.

We’ve continued our commitment to the Guest experience with our Safe Travels efforts. In addition to our enhanced cleaning procedures and HEPA air filtration onboard, we’ve also added low-touch airport innovations. These allow you to move through the airport more quickly when you check-in on your phone and use our industry-leading self bag tag and self bag drop with biometric photo matching at select airports. I’m proud to share that our Safe Travels initiatives recently earned Spirit the impressive Platinum Health Safety rating from APEX (Airline Passenger Experience Association).

We also launched a completely reimagined loyalty program. The new Free Spiritlanded last month with points earned for every dollar spent and redemptions available for any fare on any flight. This truly is the fastest way to earn rewards and status. It’s no surprise to see all the praise it’s earned.

We did all of this while continuing to deliver strong operational performance. For 2020, our on-time performance of 86.7% and completion factor of 97.9% placed us among the top performers in the industry.
The impact of these efforts is clear: over the past year we’ve reached new records in Guest satisfaction. The Wall Street Journal’s Middle Seat annual ranking of operational performance has us at number four out of the nine largest U.S. airlines. We are also one of only eight airlines worldwide and three in the U.S to be included on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 2021. We’re proud to be among the most reliable airlines in the country while continuing to provide the best value in the sky!Fortune World's Most Admired Companies 2021
Just this week, we announced new service from Louisville to Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and new service from Milwaukee to Orlando, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. Las Vegas is one of our largest cities providing easy connections to many domestic destinations while Orlando, one of our biggest international gateways, provides access to the Caribbean and Latin America.

We’ve been here for you throughout this past year and, we’ll continue to be here for you – whether it’s time to gather with family and friends, celebrate life events, or make new memories. Until that time, stay safe and continue to care for your families, friends, and community.I look forward to seeing you on a Spirit flight soon.
