GIS Spotlight airs today (Friday, 11 May) and Saturday (12 May). This week’s show highlights how to live green and takes you somewhere outside the frenetic pace of Island life. It also pays tribute to a notable Caymanian lady.

First, we stop at the Living Green Fair that recently transformed the lawns of Government House. The annual fair seeks to educate the public about environmentally sustainable initiatives underway in the Cayman Islands by government departments and local businesses.

After that, leave your cares behind and slip with us into the colourful yet tranquil and soothing atmosphere of the QE II Botanic Park. Meander through the various walks that criss-cross the park to experience local and exotic fauna and see our magnificent Blue Iguanas in their own domain.

If spotting wild birds, learning about Cayman’s green heritage or getting lost in a good book is your aim, discover how the park can help you achieve this.

Finally, we revisit our story on a stalwart of yesteryear, Miss Annie Huldah Bodden. Come with us as we stop at the National Archive to hear what made Miss Annie a political powerhouse and learn about her role in the Islands’ onward democratic journey.
