Best camping places in Netherlands

Camping has to be the favorite past time of the Dutch, given the number of campsites in the Netherlands. Both in the woods, and along the coasts, Netherlands boasts of great selection of campsites. 

In this article, let us take a look at some of the best camping places in Netherlands. 

Trekkershut, Olst

Trekkershut is situated at Olst and is a versatile camping option. Be it a cycling or hiking trip, a family camp or group tours, Trekkershut offers a unique camping experience. 

Recreational facilities at the campsite includes a children’s playground, Table Tennis, swimming pool and a garden. You could go hiking in the nearby mountains, enjoy boating or just relax in the gardens. Fishing is also another popular activity in the Trekkershut. Barbeque facilities can also be availed at the campsite. 

You can choose between different types of wooden cabins with different levels of facilities and comfort. They are hiking cabins for those who like to go cycling or hiking, and seaside cabins for those who are looking for camping by the sea. You could also stay at one of the trekkers huts in the Veluwe.

The campsite has good restaurants and a snack bar, and is well equipped with high class sanitary facilities. Offering something for everyone, camping here is sure a fun and enjoyable getaway.

Stadscamping, Zeeland

Stadscamping Zeeland is situated in Middelburg, and is a peaceful camping getaway away from the hustle and bustle of cities. 

With options of tents, caravans and luxurious chalets, the Standscamping suits everyone’s needs. While the tents and caravans are placed spaciously, the chalets have a private terrace, a bathroom and a kitchen. 

The campsite has an on-site bar, a cafeteria and a mini market where you get essentials and freshly baked bread. Laundry and sanitation facilities are commendable, and the cleanliness is exemplary. There is also a fully equipped kitchen.

The area is full of great cycling routes that guests can use. Bicycles are available for rent at the campsite. If you would like to spend some time strolling by the beaches of Zeeland, they can be reached in a 20 minute drive from Stadscamping. There is also a children’s playground available at the site. Off-site activities include windsurfing and Tennis courts situated very close to the property. Zeeuws Museum is 1.3 km away which you could visit during your stay here.

Situated at a quiet green place, Stadscamping Zeeland assures a peaceful and wonderful vacation.

Camping Zuidduinen

Camping Zuidduinen is an interesting camping spot in the Netherlands, that has a wide range of fun activities. It’s a peaceful camping destination, well suited for families with children, solo campers or couples. 

The site has both standard and luxury pitches, among camping tents, caravans and vans ( RV’s). It has access to water sources nearby, and has good electricity and network connectivity. You’ll just need to get your winter sleeping bags for camping here. While you may not find many shops at the campsite, a short walk to Katwijk town Centre solves the problem.

Guests can go for beach walks at the Katwijk beach, or just cycle across the dunes. Horse Riding and Kite surfing are some of the other popular activities here. Barbecuing is also allowed here, but only on gas. 

An ideal campsite for campers who love camping by the beaches.

Camping Loodsmansduin in Den Hoorn, Texel

Camping Loodsmansduin is situated in Texel island, right in the middle of Dunes of Texel National Park. Camping in the dunes, surrounded by exotic views all around, instantly makes you feel right in the lap of nature.

Recreation facilities at the Camping Loodsmansduin include an Outdoor swimming pool, a recreation room and a playground. Bicycles are available for rent for cycling in the area of Texelcamping Loodsmansduin. You could also go hiking here. The ferry station is situated 8 minutes away from where you can get to Den Helder in 20 minutes.

The campsite has around 60 rental campsites that are situated spaciously. All the camps are enabled with proper electricity, laundry and sanitation facilities. While there are cafeterias and  pizzerias available here, you can also cook your own meals in a fully equipped kitchen available at the campsite. 

Camping De Boogaard

The Camping De Boogard is a pretty campsite by the waters, situated at the Hollandse IJssel.

It’s well maintained and run by a family who are warm and customer friendly. 

The campsite has 40 sites, distributed among camping pitches, luxury chalets and holiday apartments. It’s clean, well maintained and has good sanitation facilities. The nearby town of Oudewater is 2.5 km away, and is a good getaway option from the campsite.

Recreational facilities at the campsite include swimming, canoeing and fishing whereas you could go for hiking and cycling nearby. Some of the best cycling routes here are along the Hollandse IJssel or the Boezem. If you are interested in hiking, you could take up the hike along the Floris V long-distance hiking trail, the Hollandse IJssel hiking trail or the Lopikerwaard canoe trail. 

Not a luxury, but definitely a great place for camping in Zeeland.
