Application Processing Delays – Cayman Islands Department of Planning

Staff at the Department of Planning would like to apologise to its valued customers for a delay in processing applications. This is due to network connectivity issues.

The Department is working hard to ensure prompt service will return as soon as possible.

Partial Road Closure on North Sound Road on Monday 20 May

The RCIPS would like to notify the public that on Monday 20 May, we will be carrying out a scheduled accident reconstruction on North Sound Road between the Bank of Butterfield Roundabout and the North Sound Road – Shedden Road stoplight. This will take place between 3PM and 7PM and as a result the roadway will be partially closed throughout this time frame.

Motorist is being asked to exercise caution when traveling in that area on Monday 20 May or to avoid that area if possible.

The RCIPS would like to apologize for any inconveniences that this may cause.  

Road Closure for International Museum Day Celebration, 18 May

In order to facilitate the National Museum’s celebration in observance of International Museum Day on Saturday, 18 May, Goring Avenue will be closed between South Church Street and the Louise Llewellyn Way, from 7:00AM to 4:00PM.

Braccanal Events this Weekend, 16-20 May

The annual Braccanal Cayman Brac Carnival festivities are taking place this long weekend, from 16 – 20 May. This includes the road parade which will be taking place on Saturday, 18 May, starting at 3:00PM. The parade will travel from Spot Bay to La Esperanza, with an afterparty following at that location. Motorists are advised to exercise caution along the parade route during this time.

RCIPS officers will be on patrol during the parade and all other events during the weekend, and all relevant laws, including those regarding drunk driving and illegal drug use, will be strictly enforced. All participants and spectators are advised to conduct themselves in a responsible, safe, and law-abiding manner.

The RCIPS wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable weekend.

1998 Honda Accord Reported Stolen, 13 May

On Saturday, 11 May, officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle, a 1998 Grey Honda Accord, registration #123 125. It was last seen parked at an address on Woodlake Drive in George Town at about 8:00PM on Friday, 10 May, and discovered stolen at about 4:00AM on Saturday, 11 May. The vehicle is described as having a crack in the middle of the windscreen and scratches on the left doors.

Road Closures for CayMAS Carnival Street Parade, 18 May

The RCIPS is informing the public about the following road closures taking place on Saturday, 18 May, in order to facilitate the CayMAS Carnival Street Parade.

From 10:00AM to 12:30PM, South Church Street will be closed between Memorial Avenue and Boilers Road, in preparation for the parade.

The parade begins at 12:30PM and sections of the road along the parade’s route will be closed as follows:

12:30PM to 1:00PM – South Church Street will remain closed between Memorial Avenue and Boilers Road.

1:00PM to 1:30PM – South Church Street and Harbour Drive will be closed between Boilers Road and Fort Street.

1:30PM to 2:15PM – North Church Street will be closed between Fort Street and Eastern Avenue.

2:15PM to 3:45PM – West Bay Road will be closed between Eastern Avenue and Lawrence Boulevard.

3:45PM to 4:15PM – West Bay Road will be closed between Lawrence Boulevard and Gecko Link (Galleria Roundabout).

4:15PM to 5:30PM – West Bay Road will be closed between Gecko Link and Lime Tree Bay Avenue.

5:30PM to 6:00PM – West Bay Road will be closed between Lime Tree Bay Avenue and the Seven Mile Public Beach entrance.

Government Application Process for Early Childhood Assistance Programme Funding Now Open

The Ministry of Education provides financial assistance through the Early Childhood Assistance Programme (ECAP) fund for young Caymanian children who will be between the ages of 3 years old and 4 years old before September 1, 2019.  ECAP applications are now being accepted to assist with payment of fees at any early childhood centre once the family meets certain criteria. This year the Ministry has increased the total ceiling income figures for applicants by five percent which means that families with higher incomes may now qualify for assistance.  Application forms and information can be downloaded from the Ministry of Education’s website: www.education.gov.ky.
