Cayman Islands Government hosts Industry Day for pre-qualified cruise port bidders

George Town, Cayman Islands (6 February, 2018) The Cayman Islands Government (CIG) held an Industry Day on Monday February 5, 2018 with pre-qualified applicants seeking to participate in the development of the Port of George Town cargo and cruise facilities (the Project). The attendance list included pre-qualified applicants for the Project and representatives for the Cayman Islands Government and Port Authority of the Cayman Islands.

The purpose of the Industry Day was to provide applicants with further information on the major elements of the Project and gave them an opportunity to meet the Project governance team. It also allowed applicants to familiarize themselves with the cruise and cargo facilities. The event included formal presentations, a site visit to the Port of George Town and a question and answer period with participants.

“The Industry Day was a key next step in the procurement process since we are at the stage where an acceptable funding model needs to be identified and agreed upon. I was therefore pleased to have the opportunity to meet the pre-qualified applicants and candidly discuss government’s expectations with them,” said Hon. Moses Kirkconnell, Minister for Tourism,

The procurement process will continue with the invitation to submit final tender being released during May 2018.
