Cayman Islands: Man assaulted/Man charged with Possession of Criminal Property

Man Assaulted in George Town

Around 9:45PM last night, 5 December, police and other emergency personnel were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to Harper Close, off Eastern Avenue in George Town. It was reported that a man who was at the location was hit over the head by another man, who had arrived at the location in a vehicle. The men had been having a conversation briefly before the assault occurred.  The assailant then fled the scene in the car he had arrived in heading towards the Eastern Avenue, Godfrey Nixon Way junction.

The victim was rendered unconscious as a result of injuries to his head and face. Attending officers found the man with his head and shirt covered in blood and provided him with preliminary first aid assistance.  He was later transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital where he was assessed by the duty doctors. He is said to have serious head injuries and is being treated at the hospital.

The police are appealing to the public for anyone with information regarding this incident and the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Man charged with Possession of Criminal Property

A man, aged 19 of Bodden Town, was arrested on Monday, 4 December, and subsequently charged with Possession of Criminal Property. He is appearing in court this morning, 6 December.

The charge relates to a burglary which took place on Tuesday, 21 November, in Bodden Town.
