Cayman Islands: Man Arrested and Charged in connection with incident on Walkers Road, 16 November

Clarification: The man charged today (22) in relation to this incident is the driver of the vehicle, who had fled the scene on the night of the incident.

A man, aged 25 of George Town, was arrested on 20 November and charged today, 22 November, with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm, Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm (Ammunition), and Possession of Ganja with Intent to Supply. This is in relation to an incident which took place on Thursday, 16 November (see below press release).

He is expected to appear in court Thu morning, 23 November, at 10AM.

Arrests Made in Connection with Incident on Walkers Road, 16 November

Just before 2:30AM today, Thursday, 16 November, officers were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of a disturbance involving damage to property at a gas station off Walkers Road in George Town.

When the police arrived some of the individuals involved left the location in a white Honda Civic,  the vehicle was subsequently stopped and searched and a loaded magazine was recovered.  Whilst the vehicle was being searched the driver fled the location on foot; he is still wanted by the police for questioning.

The two passengers, a man aged 23 and a woman aged 36, both of George Town, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and damage to property. They remain in police custody.

The vehicle was later forensically examined and a handgun was recovered.
