    Further to the information provided below, a firearm has also been recovered in connection with this investigation, as well as a quantity of ammunition. This occurred during a firearms operation on Tuesday.

    This is the fifth firearm that police officers have recovered so far this year.

    UPDATE: Man Charged In 20 February Attempted Robbery in George Town

    A man, age 24 of George Town, was arrested on Tuesday, 21 February in connection with the attempted robbery that occurred Monday evening on Eastern Avenue in the vicinity of Crown Square Mall. The man was charged yesterday with Attempted Murder, Wounding with Intent, Attempted Robbery and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm.

    He will be in court this morning (Thu 23).

    Police are currently on the scene of an attempt armed robbery of an armoured vehicle which occurred at about 630pm in the vicinity of Crown Square Mall,Eastern Avenue,George Town.
    Shots were fired in the incident, one security guard taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
    It is not believed that anything was taken in the incident.
    No arrests have been made at this time.
    Anyone with any information are asked to contact the George Town CID Dept or the officer in charge at the GT police station.
