News Americas, LONDON, England, Weds. May 3, 2016: Some 100 Muslims from Trinidad and Tobago have traveled to Syria to join the group known as ISIS a British diplomat claims.
Arthur Snell was quoted as making the claim in the British tabloid paper The Daily Star. Snell claims ISIS is turning to recruiting in the Caribbean as the terrorist group’s manpower continues to thin to the lowest numbers seen since 2014 due to fighting in Iraq and Syria.

Caribbean fighters are being featured in propaganda videos from Isis as the recruitment drive is stepped up.

“Quite a lot of things that occur in jihadist groups elsewhere apply in Trinidad – people who are exposed to gang violence, broken homes, poor education opportunities, a lack of a sense of self belonging,” Snell was quoted as saying.

US Marine General John Kelly said local law enforcement is powerless to stop the extremists.
“Even just a few of these nuts can cause an awful lot of trouble down in the Caribbean because those countries don’t have an FBI, they don’t have law enforcement like we do,” Kelly was quoted as saying recently.
