At 12:41am Thursday 16th October 2014, RCIPS at the George Town Police Station received a report of an arm robbery on Zeedah Crescent, off Walker’s Road. The male resident and complainant reported that while seated inside his parked vehicle, he was approached by 2 masked men. One armed with a hand gun, demanded money from the complainant before instructing him to get out of the car and to lie face down on the ground before making their escape in the Windsor Park area. Stolen was a Samsung cellular phone.

The culprits are described as around 5ft 11ins both wearing dark clothing and spoke with Jamaican accents.

No injuries were reported.

Cayman Islands police report 9 Burglaries on Tuesday (14)

Detectives from the George Town Police Station (CID) are investigating 9 daytime burglaries reported on Tuesday 14th October 2014 between 8am and 4pm.

8 of these burglaries were residential, covering an area from Prospect Drive, Tuscany Drive, off East West Arterial Road and Larva Drive in Bodden Town. Cash and other personal property were reportedly stolen.

According to a RCIPS spokesperson, ‘ Resident need to be aware of strangers within their communities, and any person whom they believe should not not belong there should call their respective police station to have that person checked ‘.

1 commercial burglary was also reported after 1pm at a Bar on Shedden Road where cash and alcohol was stolen.

Cayman Islands: Armed Robbery – George Town

On Monday 13th October 2014, police received a report of an armed robbery at the Fish Shack located on North Church Street , George Town.

At 10:56pm, it was reported that two masked men armed with what appeared to be firearms entered the premises and demanded cash from a staff member. During the course of the robbery, the culprits made off with the cash register belonging to the business and also robbed a customer of cash and a cell phone; an employee was also robbed of a cell phone, the cash taken is estimated to be about $600.00. The culprits later made off on foot onto Wahoo Close off North Church Street.

The suspects are described as having dark complexion, tall, slim built and at the time was wearing dark coloured clothing including hoodies and long pants.

No shots were fired and no one was injured during the course of the robbery

Armed robbery WB Road

Approximately 11:53pm Sunday 12th October 2014, RCIPS received a report of a robbery along the West Bay Road near Andy’s Car Rental.

The male victim walking towards Andy’s Car Rental was approached by a man wearing a hoody of a dark colour, and his face covered with what is believed to be a shirt. Armed with a machete the culprit stole the victim’s brown leather wallet before running off. No injuries were reported.

It is believed the wallet may have been discarded by the offender and police would encourage anyone finding the leather wallet, to hand it in at the nearest police station.
