5K Raises funds for Children & Family Services

Flashy Nation donationFollowing a successful 2nd annual 5K run held earlier this month, Flashy Nation donated CI$760 to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) yesterday (Wednesday 23 July 2014).

The funds are earmarked to be used for children in care and/or families with children.

Expressing her thanks, Ms Alicia ‘Jen’ Dixon, Director of DCFS said, “We are truly appreciative of Flashy Nation’s efforts to assist children in need. Due to their generous donation, we will be able to continue to improve lives throughout our community.”

Co-founder of Flashy Nation Darrel Evans commented “I believe in giving back to the community. Through this donation we have had a direct, immediate impact on some of those families who need it most.”

As a creative touch, 5K participants had dressed as their favourite children’s character.

Flashy Nation is a group of young Caymanians with a goal to inspire each other to achieve sporting goals and to promote health and fitness, particularly among the youth.
