Motorcyclist welfare update:

The victim is a patient in the Intensive Care Unit at the George Town Hospital. As a result of the accident, he sustained extensive facial injuries, degloving injuries to his face and facial bone fractures. He is in stable condition.

Just after 9:00 pm last night (30/04/’14), a three vehicle accident was reported to 911. The accident occurred at the junction of Hirst Road and the East-West Arterial involving a Jeep Cherokee, a Honda Accord and a motorcyclist.  The Jeep Cherokee driven by a 21-year-old male was travelling South on Hirst Road towards the East-West Arterial and the Honda Accord driven by a 25-year-old female was travelling behind the Jeep Cherokee.  The 20-year-old male motorcyclist was travelling on Hirst Road towards the East-West Arterial. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was turning right to enter the East-West Arterial when the motorcyclist collided with its left passenger side, which caused the rider to go airborne and collided with the Honda Accord.

Police and medics ambulance arrived at the scene, and the medics technicians treated the rider who was conscious and alert on their arrival.  The rider was subsequently transported to the GT Hospital where surgery was performed. He sustained facial injuries, but it is not known, at this time, if he sustained other physical injuries or whether his injuries are life threatening. He is currently admitted at the GT Hospital.

43-year-old arrested for selling lottery tickets and possession of ganja

On Tuesday, 29^th of April 2014 at about 10:15 am officers from the Bodden Town Police Station carried out an operation at the Coe Wood Beach area in Bodden Town.  As a result of the operation, a 43-year-old male was arrested for selling lottery tickets and possession of ganja.  A quantity of cash was recovered. He is currently on police bail.
