2025 CUC PFL/GPFL: Week 3 Review

Prospect Primary powers past Red Bay Primary

As the summer heat continues into October, action on the football fields across Grand Cayman during the third week of play in the CUC Primary Football League (PFL) and Girls’ Primary Football League (GPFL) showed no signs of letting up despite the warm conditions.

In Group B in the CUC PFL, Prospect Primary overcame neighbours Red Bay Primary in both age- groups but the one-sided scores were not a true reflection of the effort and tenacity exerted by both schools. In the Under 9 contest, Prospect Primary’s two goals in the first half were enough to secure a 2-0 win and the three points and in the Under 11 game, Prospect Primary’s 3-0 victory made it a successful Saturday outing for the boys in purple and yellow.

CUC PFL Under 9 boys’ action between Prospect Primary (purple and yellow) and Red Bay Primary.

Red Bay Primary showed signs of great improvement during both games and although not able to get on the scoresheet on this day, their level of play and ‘never-say-die’ attitude was exemplary.

In other Group B Under 9 games, Cayman Prep 9A beat Footsteps School 4-0 (respect rule), FirstBaptist Christian School downed SCM Challengers 4-0 (respect rule) and Island Primary 9B got the
better of Sir John A. Cumber Primary 9B 4-0 (respect rule).

In Group B Under 11 games, Cayman Prep 11A defeated Footsteps School 4-0 (respect rule), First
Baptist Christian School got past Cayman Brac 3-1 and Cayman International School (CIS) 11 Blue beat NorthEast Schools 4-0 (respect rule).

In Group A in the Under 11 division, Joanna Clarke Primary outlasted Theoline L. McCoy Primary 4-0 (respect rule) thanks to goals from Kaydon Roberts (7th minute), Kaziah Barnes (13th minute), Jeremiah Lalor (44th minute) and Zaydon Roberts (48th minute).

In other Group A Under 11 games, Marie Martin Primary beat St. Ignatius Catholic 2-0 and Cayman Prep 11B defeated Grace Christian Academy 4-0 (respect rule).

In the Under 9 division in Group A, St. Ignatius Catholic got past Marie Martin Primary 4-0 (respect rule) and in a rearranged game played on Friday, October 3, Island Primary 9A beat CIS 9 White 1-0.

In the GPFL division in Group A, St. Ignatius Catholic were awarded the three points over Marie Martin Primary (forfeit). In Group B, NorthEast Schools defeated CIS Girls Blue 4-0 (respect rule) and Cayman Prep GA downed Island Primary 3-0.
