“Young at Heart” Christmas Brunch

2016-11-29-11-20-37webIf you are one of the “Young at Heart” over 60s living in the Bodden Town/ Savannah area, you should have been at Savannah United Church Hall on Tuesday morning, 29 November, for the Christmas Brunch. The theme of the event was Christmas Remembered.

The hall was beautifully decorated for the season. The tables were covered with white tablecloths and lovely floral arrangements (which the attendees were able to take home).

Ms. Angela Martins welcomed everyone and Rev. Dr. Yvet2016-11-29-11-53-28webte Noble Bloomfield offered a prayer. Mr. Noel Wallace provided the music and Christmas carols were sung. After a scripture reading, Rev. Yvette reflected on the Advent season and “The Wonder of it all”.

Then it was time for “Food, Fellowship and Friendship. A delicious brunch of chicken salads, potato salad, sandwiches, chicken, fruit and cake was served.

“Christmas Past – Remembering Christmas in Cayman” was presented by Twyla Vargas who regaled the attendees with many stories of the “old days”. Many of those gathered at the event joined in with memories of their own. It was a time for people to renew friendships and make new ones.

Everyone enjoyed singing the Theme song from the International Month of Older Persons for October 2007 sung to the tune of Jingle Bells. More music, singing, and a mouth organ rendition by McLeary Frederick brought the brunch to a close.

A wonderful time was had by all and they look forward to the next “ Young at Heart” event on the calendar.
