Turkish Airlines reaffirms commitment to direct flights to Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) — The executive director of Turkish Airlines, Bilal Eksi, reaffirmed on Friday in Havana the commitment of his company to continue direct flights to Cuba and expressed his desire to broaden the operations and take advantage of worldwide interest in visiting the Caribbean island.

During a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to Turkey, Luis Alberto Amoros, both sides concurred on the existence of enormous potential to increase the flights to Cuba, reported CubaMinrex.

In the context of the meeting, held while commemorating the first anniversary of the beginning of the three weekly flights by Turkish Airlines to Cuba, the Cuban ambassador noted the increase of tourism from Turkey during the current high season.

Amoros said that one of the motives for the trips is the empathy on the part of Turkish citizens for the island, in particular for the character of Cuban people, their culture and values.

Turkish Airlines, with direct connections with 120 countries, has been considered in recent years as the best air carrier in Europe and one of the best in the world, said the Cuban foreign ministry website.
