The Editor Speaks: Where were you and where are ‘they’ going?

The ‘they’ is the new Royal couple.

I suppose more correct, I should have queried what TV channel were you watching the Royal Wedding last Saturday?

However, I know of a number of private breakfast parties and brunches that took place. Therefore, my top question is still valid.

Like most I was at home. My channel of choice was the BBC, although I did switch occasionally to ABC.

For a few hours a few billion people were happy. If two people showed to all of us they were in love it was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry – now known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Although I was not born in Sussex I spent the largest part of my childhood and youth in Sussex. Joan and I were married in Sussex. I support Brighton and Hove Albion FC in Sussex. Therefore, I am very proud the Duke and Duchess have been given the ‘Sussex’ title.

I only hope they buy a house and live in Sussex. I understand HM The Queen has a couple of places in Sussex she might throw their way….

There is no immediate honeymoon for them as they have a number of official engagements they have to execute.

Prince Charles’s 70th birthday patronage celebration at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, May 22 and
the Invictus Games in Sydney in October come to mind.

Did I just mention ‘honeymoon’?

Where will their honeymoon be?

It is very unlikely it will be here so where are the lovely couple going to go?

Betting empire Ladbrookes have predicted Africa to be the first choice, as Harry has visited the continent several times for his charity Sentebale and his role as patron for Rhino Conservation Botswana.

Sounds like a good bet to me.

However, Meghan also went to Rwanda when she was a global ambassador for World Vision. Her engagement ring even has a diamond from Botswana and the pair took a safari break together in the country only four weeks after their blind date.

That’s a good possibility, too.

If they want to escape the public eye then Namibia has been mentioned. Namibia is one of the least densely populated countries in the world.

If we are out of the running, what about the rest of the Caribbean? Nevis is the firm favourite, although Jamaica has also been mentioned.

Nearer home, Verbier in Switzerland has made the list along with Italy.

Why not send me your thoughts on the two ‘wheres’?
