Stuff the Bus expands reach beyond Grand Cayman

As a new school year kicks off in Cayman, Caribbean Alliance Insurance and Hurley’s Media with the support of Whittaker’s Transportation are proud to announce that this year’s Stuff the Bus School Supply Donation drive was a success.

The three week long community donation drive secured 12,384 school supplies. All of which have been distributed to children in need across both Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac.

This was the fourth year that the annual donation drive was hosted by Caribbean Alliance Insurance, but it is the first year that organisers were able to support kids in Cayman Brac as well.

This bigger impact was made possible as a result of the massive support of the community and several private organisations hosting internal supply drives on behalf of the cause.

“This campaign started out with the goal of helping a handful of students and each year the event gets bigger and bigger and it is all because of the outpouring of support that the Cayman community provides. School supplies may be a just a small piece of what children need to get an education, but it is important to us and our partners that we do everything we can to help kids in need across the Cayman Islands succeed,” expressed Aleisha Lalor, Branch Manager for Caribbean Alliance Insurance.

To ensure that supplies got into the hands of children that needed them, the following organisations were carefully selected as the recipients of this year’s donations – the Cayman Islands Education Department in Cayman Brac, the Department of Children and Family Services, the Family Resource Centre, the Crisis Centre, Bonaventure Boys Home and the Francis Bodden Girls Home. Each organisation will then distribute supplies to children heading back to school that are from families needing assistance.

Any group, business or organisation is welcome to join in on next year’s event. If interested please call Caribbean Alliance Insurance at 949-9744 with questions or to indicate interest.
