Steve Harvey ‘Family Feud’ on a roll – even before Trump bump

By Karl Nelson From Newsmax

Steve Harvey’s “Family Feud” TV game show hit record-breaking ratings numbers for the first week in January just before the black comedian’s well-covered visit to Trump Tower to meet with the president-elect.

“Family Feud” reached a 7.6 rating as it entered the new year, according toDeadline, and if things continue to move in the same direction the game show could accomplish something no other nationally syndicated TV series ever has: seven consecutive years of increased ratings.

“Steve Harvey’s brilliant comedic skills and timing have struck a chord with millions of viewers who want nothing more than to be entertained and laugh,” said Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein, Co-Presidents of Lionsgate-owned distributor Debmar-Mercury, according to Deadline.

Harvey is receiving backlash for his meeting with Donald Trump on Jan. 13 – a meeting he says he took after both President Obama and Trump reached out to him, said Fox News.

“I came and talked to the guy who’s going to be the 45th President of the United States,” said Harvey. [We spoke about] housing for urban development…[to] bring some positive change in the inner cities. He wants to do something. He realizes he needs some allies in that department. He seemed really sincere about it.”

Harvey said the criticism for meeting with Trump took him by surprise, said the Daily Mail.

“I didn’t expect the backlash to be so fierce,” he said during his radio show on Monday. “I also understand if I’m going to keep getting stabbed at, at least while you’re stabbing me, you should understand my intent.”

“Family Feud” has seen major increases from its 1.4 rating in its 2009-10 season. Since then, the show has recorded the following ratings: 2.4 in 2010-11, 3.0 in 2011-12, 4.6 in 2012-13, 5.0 in 2013-14, 6.2 in 2014-15, 6.6 last season, and now the show has reached a high of 7.6, Deadline noted.
