On Wednesday, 11 May, the RCIPS FCU learned from several members of the public that they had received an email (copied below) purporting to be from a local bank and informing them of a pending payment. We have confirmed that this is indeed a phishing email and have been in contact with the bank in question. If you receive the email below, do not click on the link in it. (the copy of the email below does not contain this link)

As with all email communications received purporting to be from banking institutions, members of the public should always treat such communications carefully and should call the bank or individual to verify the instructions received. Most banking institutions will never request your banking details or any personal information over email. Please also remember that many times these emails will be signed off using the names of real bank managers in an effort to appear more authentic.
