North Wales police officers riding in support of the Caribbean

From Nantlle Gazette

Officers from North Wales Police this bank holiday will be joining other police forces across the UK by cycling from force HQ to force HQ as part of a charity ride in support the recovery of the commonwealth Family in the Caribbean.

This Saturday  a team from North Wales Police will receive a baton from Merseyside police cyclists at police HQ in Colwyn Bay  and North Wales Police team will then ride to Cheshire Police HQ in Winsford to pass the relay onto there colleagues from Cheshire Police who will continue the relay.

The batons are inscribed ‘Hope is the anchor of the Heart’ which is the basis of the ride.

The charity was set up to raise £20,000 to send to Caribbean for children of British Territories who lost everything in the wake of Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria in 2017 and is supported by the Commissioner of The Royal Virgin Islands Police, Mike Matthews.   With the help of many Police Forces, individuals and businesses across the UK, over 2000+ shoe boxes and the 1st batch of Cycles 4 the Caribbean were delivered in December 2017.    Cycles were donated by Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales Police and a further batch is planned this summer but further funding is required.

To help raise funds a UK wide Police HQ2HQ cycle ride has been organised for this weekend 4th – 7th May and so to keep track follow twitter account @UKPoliceC4TC or @NWPolice / Facebook.com/northwalespolice & and better still contribute to the ‘just giving’ funding page.
