New Bodden Town Cemetery officially open

Bodden remarks   Bodden Town residents and government officials came out to witness the opening of the new Bodden Town Cemetery on Wednesday, 24th September 2014.

The evening ceremony consecrated 20 newly constructed vaults, built by Public Works (PWD). Five hundred more vaults are to follow in due course, spread over the 3.75 acre property.

The event also marked the official handover of all responsibility for the cemetery to the Department of Environmental Health, which now mangreetsages vault sales for public cemeteries.

During his remarks Minister of Health, Sports, Youth and Culture, Hon. Osbourne V. Bodden, JP said: “Residents of the Bodden Town district no longer have to worry about burial space capacity – we now have an outstanding, well-planned combination beach front and inland site. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this a reality and we look forward to maintaining and developing the site.”

ForresterHe also thanked the Ministry of Planning, Lands, Agriculture, Housing and Infrastructure, the Public Works Department, contractors and volunteers for making the site a memorable resting place for generations still to come.
