Man Charged with Multiple Counts of Assault on Police Officers after Disorderly Conduct at Bar on Saturday Night, 22 July

Just past 9:30PM on Saturday, 22 July, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched police to a report of disorderly conduct at a liquor-licensed premises on Crewe Road.  When they arrived they saw a shirtless man outside the bar with a laceration on his face.  Upon seeing the officers, the man became very loud and physically aggressive with both police and others in the parking lot.  Officers then informed him that he was being arrested for being drunk and disorderly at a liquor-licensed premises; the man then resisted arrest, wrestling with officers while being handcuffed and placed in the police car, at which point he kicked one of the officers in the stomach.

The man was transported by police to hospital for treatment of his laceration before being taken into custody.

The man, age 30 of George Town, will appear in court this morning, 25 July, on four charges of Disorderly Conduct and four charges of Common Assault.
