Warning: While the entire image posted to Facebook is not visible, this post does contain a redacted version that some readers may find disturbing.

A Miami man allegedly confessed on Facebook to murdering his wife, and a photo posted on his profile appears to have shown the woman’s dead body. The photo remained on Facebook for more than five hours and was shared more than 150 times before Facebook removed it.

The following post appeared on 31-year-old Derek Medina’s page on August 8th 2013:

Medina, whose profile has since been removed from Facebook, has been married to Jennifer Alfonso since April 2012, the Miami Herald reports.

Alfonso’s profile was also removed from Facebook at about the same time as Medina’s, around 5 p.m. Thursday.

Comments on the supposed photo of Alfonso’s dead body show the photo remained on the site for more than five hours. The image showed a woman with blood on her face, her head resting against a corner cabinet and her knees folded back awkwardly.

A Facebook spokesperson who asked not to be named emailed the following statement to Mashable:

We took action on the profile – removing the content and disabling the profile, and we reached out to law enforcement. As this is an ongoing law enforcement investigation, I would refer you to the authorities in Florida for any additional details.

Th top left screen shot shows the top of Medina’s Facebook profile just before it was removed.

There was a link to what appears to be Medina’s YouTube page on his Facebook profile. The most recent videos, uploaded Tuesday, seem to show Medina kick boxing. The videos are titled “Work hard play hard part one” and “Work hard play hard part2.”

Another link on Medina’s Facebook profile led to the Barnes and Noble page for a book, How I Saved Someone’s Life and Marriage and Family Problems Thru Communication. Medina is listed as the author. The same Derek Medina has 12 listings — a mixture of ebooks and paperbacks — on the Barnes and Noble website.

An uninjured 10-year-old girl was also in the house at the time police found the woman’s body, according to the Miami Herald.
