I had a tropical Christmas vacation at one of the top 2020 travel destinations [Grand Cayman]

By Paula Griffin From Go Tech Daily

At a particularly chilly New York breakfast, I was over ready to market snowflakes, 27 degrees and hot cocoa for palm trees, 85 degrees and piña coladas. The more I enjoyed the chocolate drink, the more I was going to start my first tropical Christmas holiday with my betie – at Grand Cayman, no less – where we definitely wouldn’t need a hot drink to keep us warm.

Grand Cayman ranks as one of American Express Travel’s top travel destinations, based on where Platinum Card members have already booked a getaway within the next year. So during the three days in early December, I took a close look at the Caribbean hotspot, along with one of its coolest resorts, to find out why the island is so trendy and popular with 2020 travelers.

As I explored this paradise – which included Christmas trees and golden Christmas trees along the beach – it was clear that the holiday spirit on the island was as incredible (and as powerful) as rum. palm trees were decorated with lights, while restaurants and boats were decorated with wreaths and ornamental ornaments. It was as if Mars himself had broken his magic in this tropical haven. Even the bus had paper jams in flux, and we went to the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa, a Fine Hotels & Resorts property, which hosted the absolute getaway of my vacation.

Tidying up a well-rounded mosquito from start to finish can be a struggle when traveling to a new place, and surfing the internet for hidden gem recommendations can be a tedious task when all you want to do is shop for a new bikini. In addition, around the holidays, you already have your hands full with gift shopping, biscuit swaps and holiday parties. Fortunately, I had my entire trip to Kimpton Seafire in advance on my behalf from an American Express Travel & Lifestyle Consultant and it was a dream of a millennium. (Kimpton visitors, who are members of the Amex Platinum Card, can take advantage of this advantage to design their own consulting firm exclusively from a consultant like myself – at no extra cost – for the most seamless, stress-free process.)

The next two days were so intense and enjoyable. my route included the perfect combination of activities that put me in a relaxed but festive mood. I mean, I got to taste holiday cocktails in a real gingerbread house from real gingerbread. If that doesn’t excite Christmas, I don’t know what to do.

The resort’s gingerbread cocktail bar was made in pounds of dough from spices, candies and icing. My only Christmas addiction fell in love with this particular spot on arrival. Enjoying Cocktail Rum and Trocib (coconut rum, cream and white cocoa) and winter Sangria from the faux bar fireplace was a sweet treat that made me feel at home in New York, even though I was away from the cold East Coast.

To put the cherry on top of my relaxation day, I ate in a white Insta bathtub in your ocean-view suite, threw a bottle of champagne and enjoyed chocolate strawberries on my balcony in a pink bathrobe and slippers.

When I got out of the resort, I arrived at Stingray City – gravel where you can relax and snorkel with a bunch of pens – and enjoy fresh ceviche first mate – the right type of captain – caught right by the sea in the afternoon and prepared on board. After all, I’ve experienced some of the benefits of being an Amex Express Platinum Card: two daily breakfasts, guaranteed late check-out, noon check-in and more unique amenities (such as spa or food and drinks).

The next day at the Grand Cayman, I traveled to Kaibo, Christmasy’s most beach bar, with the Big Lex Charters, which any traveler on the island can register. This boat trip was my version of complete and complete paradise, with a little festive touch. Our table just so happened to be planted next to another Christmas tree in the white sand, which I discovered while drinking my coconut drink in the hot sun.

After staying in the tacos at the beach bar, I held a starfish in my hands on a sandblast – while surrounded by even more amazing starfish – kissed a stingray – which, according to legend (and the first companion of the boat), shows its seven years luck – and even got a stingray “back massage” for a few minutes. The captain of the boat lowered the soft belly of the stingray to my back and immediately bowed with surprise and delight. It felt so cool, a rose – probably not for the squeamish guy – but all around a real bucket list jewelry.

Lying down the next afternoon, breaking from all the amazing trips, we got a relaxing massage back at the resort’s spa, compliments of the hotel. The rest of the day was mostly spent enjoying mimosas and snacks in a campaign by the infinity pool, conveniently located a few steps away from the most “Gram-worthy spot, Seven Mile Beach.”

Later that night I visited a local beach bar called Calico Jack’s, located just off the beach from Kimpton, where there were Christmas lights sitting on the deck above the sand and people were blocking in Santa’s hats. Of course I’d like to go to the festivities, so we ordered a beer at the bar with my betie and danced at night under the colorful lights.

Sunshine, starfish, a whip massage and Christmas trees in the sand are the delights I never knew I needed this time of year. It was like Christmas came early. Overall, I can definitely understand why the island is one of the top travel destinations of 2020. If you are looking to pamper yourself with the best tropical getaway of all time, I highly recommend going to the Kimpton Seafire ASAP website or if you are a member of Amex Platinum Card, book through Amex to enjoy the extra benefits.
