Guyana: Man’s head sliced off in Diamond

By Gavin St. Clair From Guyana Guardian
A man who hails from Paradise on the East Coast of Demerara, has met a gruesome death this morning after he went to visit his father-in-law at Golden Grove on the East Bank Demerara this morning.

The victim who has been identified as 39-year-old Justin Peterkin called “Justie” was chopped about his body by his brother-in-law, who then severed his neck.

The incident which occurred at around 8am this morning, and was as a result of a disagreement between the two men, have now left the Diamond bordering community in shock, as relatives continue to search for answers.

It is understood that Peterkin had some issues with his girlfriend who decided to leave him and return to her father’s house.

One source claims that Peterkin had made efforts to contact the woman by telephone, but she did not answer, hence the reason for him deciding to go to the East Bank community to speak with his estranged partner.
But after arriving very early this morning, the woman and her father left, while Peterkin and the woman’s brother began to quarrel.

It was said that during the quarrel the brother armed himself with a cutlass and began to chop the helpless Peterkin.

But contrary to that version of the story, another woman who says she lives in the area provided a different version that contrasts with those that are forthcoming from other persons.

Nonetheless, the killer who is said to be based in Georgetown was apprehended by police and is currently in custody as investigations continue.
