Former Olympian to teach Running School in Cayman Islands

5Jeff Galloway, world-renowned runner and founder of the popular Run-Walk-Run method, will be the special guest at the Intertrust Cayman Islands Marathon, which takes place on Sunday, 4 December.
Galloway, who’s in his early seventies and has over 50 years of running experience, will lead one of his exclusive running schools on Saturday, 3 December at the Westin Grand Cayman from 9am to 12 noon.  His classes are highly motivating, and sessions include topics such as Running Faster, Training for YOUR Goal, Nutrition, Motivation, Fat Burning and Building Endurance.  Participants will receive personalised instruction on running drills, and also be able to ask individual questions.  Interested runners can register for the running school on CaymanIslandsMarathon.com.
In addition, Galloway will be giving a general talk on his running experiences during Packet Pick Up which also takes place at the Westin Grand Cayman.  He will speak at 1pm and this session is open to the public.
Galloway was a member of the 1972 US Olympic Team, competing in the 10,000 metres event.  He remains a competitive athlete with a successful masters’ running career.  He also continues to inspire others with his writing — including a monthly column for Runner’s World magazine — and sharing his running methods, and has written several books on training.
“As the race has grown, we’ve tried to develop the Packet Pick Up event, and make it more informational for the runners.  It’s no longer a matter of coming, getting your packet and leaving, though there are a number of runners who do that.  There are many participants who want to hang around, and socialise and talk about the race happening the next morning.  By giving Packet Pick Up more of an expo feel, we have found more and more runners engaging with the race and even some non-runners being inspired to begin training,” said Co-Race Director Rhonda Kelly of Kelly Holding Events & Communications.
“Having Jeff Galloway join our pre-race speaker line up is very exciting and we know he will be a great motivating force for our runners to experience before their race.  We thank our title sponsor Intertrust for providing this opportunity to our race participants.”
Kelly encourages anyone who is interested in the running school to sign up sooner rather than later as space is very limited due to the hands-on, personal nature of the sessions.
Registration for Jeff Galloway’s Running School, the marathon, half marathon, four-person relay, CUC High School Challenge and the Kids Fun Run is open online at CaymanIslandsMarathon.com.
