International sports broadcaster ESPN has acquired rights in Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean to US golf major the PGA Championship, as part of a new long-term agreement with the PGA of America.

The deal commences with the 2019 PGA Championship, which tees off today (Thursday) at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York. ESPN will make the event available in more than 45 countries throughout the region.

It will air more than 22 hours of coverage on linear channels and stream more than 110 hours, for a total of at least 130 live hours.

ESPN will also live stream Featured Groups and Featured Holes coverage throughout all four days of the 2019 PGA Championship, on ESPN Play in Latin America and the Caribbean, and WatchESPN in Brazil.

The deal with the PGA of America means ESPN now holds rights in Latin America to all four majors.

ESPN and commercial broadcaster CBS last year joined forces to sign an 11-year deal for US rights to the PGA Championship, from 2020 to 2030.

The PGA Championship has this year moved from August to in May, which makes it the second major of the season, following the Masters.
