‘Dressed Up’ officially launches in Newark

The event attracted a mix of supporters, fellow business owners, models, members of clergy, and influencers

Newark, NJ (Sonique Solutions) – In an evening filled with emotion, accomplishment and thankfulness, Trinbagonian entrepreneur and fashionista Diane Wiltshire, professionally and fondly known as ‘Fury’ officially launched the permanent space for new her retail outlet ‘Dressed Up’ in Newark, New Jersey.

After months of anticipation, pop-ups and social media buzz, the dress-specialty shoppe finally opened its doors to the public and was greeted with a warm welcome to the neighbourhood by a gathering of dress enthusiasts and notable personalities from the community much to Fury’s delight.

Fury intends to use her industry experience to establish Dressed Up as one of the leading specialty dress shoppes in Newark and beyond

The business-owner and former professional model shared, “I am absolutely overwhelmed with feelings of gratitude, awe and disbelief. This journey has been incredible. Not always easy, but always worth it. I pray I have done my country of birth as proud of me as I am to be recognized and acknowledged as a Trinidadian.”

The launch attracted a melange of attendees which included Fury’s supporters, fellow business owners, models, members of clergy, influencers, and eager residents of Newark.

Amongst those who came out to celebrate and peruse Dressed Up’s casual, contemporary and designer dress offerings were Deputy Mayor of Newark Rahaman Muhammad who officiated the shoppe’s ribbon cutting ceremony (and purchased the first dress of the evening as a present for his wife), as well as singer-songwriter Monifah.

In her speech of acknowledgement and gratitude to her family Fury became overcome with emotion when speaking of her two sisters, Wendy and Joanne, who were both present. In thanking them for their love and support she acknowledged the role her sister Wendy, a supporting force from inception, has played. Wendy’s battle with breast cancer has been a motivating factor in Fury’s journey.

Dressed Up features the dress collection styles of Caribbean fashion icon Meiling and will continue to be a platform to showcase the work of both established and up-and-coming Caribbean designers. Additionally, Dressed Up’s philanthropic arm, the non-profit ‘reDRESSed’ will assist victims of domestic violence and abuse by providing clothing for survivors re-establishing their lives and re-entering the workforce.

As she will soon embark on a new journey with graduate studies, Fury intends to use that platform along with her multiple years of practice in the fashion and hospitality industries to expand the brand, deliver an unparalleled consumer experience and establish Dressed Up as one of the leading specialty dress shoppes in Newark and beyond.

After the ribbon-cutting, Deputy Mayor of Newark Rahaman Muhammad purchased the first dress of the evening as a present for his wife.

She stated with true appreciation, “I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to those I know and those who I am yet to meet for allowing me the room to dream, plan, conceptualize and actualize.”
