DART donates two vehicles to the Cayman Islands Special Constabulary

Dart vehicle donation
Dart transferred ownership of two used vehicles to the Special Constabulary unit of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) for use in the constabulary’s Traffic and Road Safety Unit. Aon and KPMG partnered with Dart on this initiative and are sponsoring the refit of the vehicles as a part of their ongoing commitment to road safety and desire to help make Cayman’s roads safer this holiday season.
The Special Constabulary is made up of volunteer Police Constables who provide operational support to the regular officers of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service. The vehicles – two Discovery Three Land Rovers – previously named CBAY1 and CBAY2, which were used as branded transportation by Dart, have been transferred to the Special Constabulary and will be used primarily for traffic enforcement and road safety initiatives. When not being used for traffic management, these vehicles will be used as regular patrol vehicles.
Christopher Duggan, Commandant of the RCIPS Special Constabulary and VP of Community Development at Dart said that the donation of these two vehicles will benefit the community as well as the Constabulary by providing two additional ways for officers to make the roads safer:
“The Special Constabulary has full access to the RCIPS fleet of vehicles – vehicles which are also used by the regular officers and so are frequently not available for use by the officers of the Special Constabulary. The designation of two additional vehicles specifically for use by the Special Constabulary is a significant boost for our team and means that more officers can be on the road patrolling,” said Mr. Duggan. “The donation by Dart, and the addition of two vehicles to the fleet, will assist in making the roads safer for the community during the holiday season and beyond”.
The Special Constabulary unit vehicles will be in service effective Wednesday, 22 December and in the coming weeks the external police stripe will be added making them easily identifiable as police cars.
