Cricket: Barbados Tridents won 2019 Caribbean Premier League title

It is a big shock for the fans of Guyana Amazon Warriors. All the season fo the 2019 Caribbean Premier League, the team of Guyana played brilliantly but in the end, they could not finish it well. The title of Caribbean Premier League remains untouched for them. In the final, once again, Guyana Amazon Warriors were defeated by the franchise team of Barbados. Yes, Barbados Tridents won 2019 Caribbean Premier League title! It is the 2nd CPL title of Barbados Tridents.

If we look at the group level matches of the recently finished Caribbean Premier League, Guyana Amazon Warriors did not face any defeat. By winning all ten matches in the group stage, as the top point holder team, they were promoted to the playoff round. In the first qualifier, they faced Barbados Tridents and beat them easily. On the other side, Barbados Tridents were not as successful as Guyana Amazon Warriors in the group level. They also played ten group stage matches and managed just five victories. By holding the 2nd position, they moved to the playoff. By facing the first qualifier defeat, they played the 2nd qualifier against the winner of the eliminator round.

They beat  Trinbago Knight Riders there and confirmed their place into the final. Earlier, before final, the team of Barbados played a total of three matches against Guyana Amazon Warriors. Twice times in the group level and once in the playoff. All three times, Guyana Amazon Warriors beat them easily. But when the time came for the trophy, Barbados Tridents showed their true color and claimed the 2nd title.

Earlier today, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba the final of 2019 Caribbean Premier league took place where the winner of 2014 CPL and runners-up of the 2018 CPL faced against each other. Barbados Tridents won the toss and decided to bat first. Charles and Alex Hales made a good start for Barbados Tridents where Alex added 28 runs. Charles scored 39 runs so far. Middle-order players played well where Jonathan Carter and Ashley Nurse finished the innings and remained not out. Carter scored the highest 50 runs and Ashley added 19 runs so far. In 20 overs, team Barbados presented 171 runs in exchange for 6 wickets.

This time, the strong batting lineup of Guyana Amazon Warriors could not help the team but for the first time in the season, they failed to chase. Scoring 144 runs, they lost 9 wickets in 20 overs.
