CIECA 2017 investment delegation visits allies in the Caribbean

In order to strengthen cooperation with the Caribbean region, the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA) organized the “2017 Investment Delegation to allies in the Caribbean”, with the objective of conducting a survey of development of industry and economy of four countries, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Dominican Republic for total 13 days, from August 5 to 17.

For the purpose of understanding the local investment and trade opportunities and promote the opportunities with local manufacturers so as to explore bilateral technology and potential industry cooperation, the Ambassador on Home Assignment of Foreign Affairs of Republic of China (Taiwan), George T.K.LI has personally headed this ‘‘Investment Delegation’’ and held symposia with the local governments and relevant departments during the visit.

The delegation includes six representatives from different fields, which are international investment, household appliances manufacturing, consumer electronics related industries, textile industry, machinery industry and food processing industry, as well as 26 representatives of Taiwan Hotel/Motel Association of North American. The delegation will visit the local governments, industrial and commercial organizations.

The group will arrive in Saint Vincent on August 7 and conduct a seminar with the relevant government departments and manufacturers of the country, and afterwards it will visit the Bequia, the outlying island of Saint Vincent. On August 9, the delegation will visit Saint Lucia and hold the manufacturers and business talk with the related manufacturers of Saint Lucia to increase bilateral opportunities.

After that , on August 14 the delegation will arrive in Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, visiting the Minister of tourism, Industry and trade, Lindsay Grant and the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA), to attend the briefing presentation of the Christophe Harbor Development Company , and next on August 12, the group will arrive in the Dominican Republic, the delegation will visit the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier, the director of Centro de Exportación e Inversión de la República Dominicana (In English: Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic , CEI-RD), Luis Henry Molina, to arrange business networking with local manufacturers.

This Investment Delegation to allies in the Caribbean can go through the deeper level of economic and trade interaction with the allies, so that the bilateral industry can have an in-depth understanding of the investment environment in order to further consolidate the pragmatic diplomacy.
