Cayman: “Pirates Week Golf Classic is back and there’s treasure to be won”

(Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands – Friday 20th September 2019) The Cayman Islands National Festival, Pirates Week is less than two months away and organisers are pleased to announce the Pirates Week Charity Golf Classic is back! This annual sporting event doubles as a fundraiser and encourages teams to play for some very high stakes including a brand-new car, while being entertained by swashbuckling pirates along the fairway.

The tournament set for Friday, 25th October at the North Sound Golf Course, is geared toward corporate teams and registration fees will assist in raising much needed funds for Meals on Wheels Cayman.

The event will feature teams of four players competing in a ‘scramble’ format. Each member of the team tees off from the starting hole and the best shot is selected by the team. Play will continue from this point, until one player secures the ball in the hole.

This year Trac Automotive have partnered with the tournament as the Automotive sponsor and are offering a brand new Changan CS35 SUV for any player who sinks a hole in one during the tournament.

“This exciting tournament is open to everyone and golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The addition of a new car as the ‘Hole in One’ prize has certainly upped the stakes and has created a buzz among our corporate teams. The funds raised for Meals on Wheels depends heavily on the number of teams who sign up and Meals on Wheels as we know, provides hot nutritious meals to the most vulnerable in our society while helping Cayman’s seniors maintain their independence at home. We’re really looking forward to a thrilling afternoon while raising funds for this worthy cause,” said event coordinator, Anna Keating.

Team entry is CI$1,000 and includes green fees, cart rental, buffet dinner and participant goodie bag. Registration deadline is Friday, 11th October.

There are even more great prizes to be won including Cayman Airways gift vouchers for the winning team, a treasure trove of spot prizes for the Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin and Chip to the Ship among other competitions, all in the name of raising money for our charity partners.

“Meals on Wheels is thrilled to be selected as the charity who benefits from the Pirates Week Golf Classic. Every dollar raised goes towards helping to end hunger for some of Cayman’s most vulnerable seniors. We are so thankful to Melanie McField and the Pirates Week Coordinators for their support and we encourage the Corporate Community to get involved to help make the Pirates Week Golf Classic a huge success.”

“This year’s Charity Golf Classic promises to be a lot of fun. It’s about bringing people together to celebrate what Cayman has to offer and providing another great opportunity for people to show their community spirit while having fun. Pirates Week truly has something for everyone to enjoy,” said Pirates Week General Manager, Melanie McField.

There are a number of ways to participate and companies interested in registering a team or sponsoring this event are asked to contact [email protected]. Don’t miss out, register today!
