Cayman Islands w/e road accidents: Collision involving scooter and bicycle North Church St / MVA accident on Camana Bay roundabout / MVA on North Church St

Collision Involving Scooter and Bicycle Yesterday Evening on North Church Street, 10 July

 Just before 7:30PM yesterday, 10 July, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre received a report of an collision involving a blue scooter and pedal cycle on North Church Street in the vicinity of La Dolce Vita Restaurant.  The man on the pedal cycle, age 62, and the man, age 26, on the scooter were taken to Cayman Islands Hospital.

 Police and emergency personnel attended the scene.  North Church Street was closed in both directions and traffic was diverted.

 Both men are still in hospital with serious injuries.

Single-Vehicle Accident on Camana Bay Roundabout Saturday Evening, 9 July

 Just before 9:30PM on Saturday, 9 July, police were dispatched to a report of a single-vehicle accident and vehicle fire on the Camana Bay roundabout on Esterley Tibbetts Highway involving a silver Kia SUV. 

 The vehicle was ablaze when officers arrived; all three female passengers had exited the vehicle and officers immediately moved the passengers and onlookers away from the vehicle as it burned and exploded. Police set up a road block for traffic heading into George Town from West Bay.  Fire officers extinguished the blaze.

All three passengers were taken to Cayman Islands Hospital for observation and later released.

MVA on North Church Street on Saturday Morning, 9 July

Just after 6:30AM on Saturday morning, 9 July, police and fire officers responded to the scene of a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident in which a car had gone over the sea wall near 153 Church Street and landed in the ocean.  The driver and passenger in the vehicle, both males, were not injured. 

 The owner of the vehicle arranged for the car to be retrieved from the water and removed.

 Police are investigating the accident.
