Cayman Islands National Children’s Festival of the Arts 2017 Junior Choir Adjudications

NCFA 2017 Junior Choir Judging Complete

A few hundred students and their hard-working music teachers, from more than a dozen public and private primary schools, flocked to the Red Bay Church of God this morning Wednesday 5 April 2017 to take part in the NCFA 2017 adjudications for choirs and small vocal ensembles in Key Stage 2 (Years 4-6).

By the end of the morning two golds had been awarded in the classical /contemporary section to Bodden Town Primary School for “Whisper” and to Red Bay Primary School for “The Letter” a song about domestic violence. There was also a host of silver and bronze awards.

The traditional Folk and Gospel/Christian sessions continued in the afternoon.

Judges for the day were Janelle Tibbetts and Maryanne Chase who told students they were impressed by the level of attainment and noted that performers and conductors had incorporated feedback from the previous year.

Juniors will be adjudicated in speech and drama tomorrow (Thursday 6 April) also at the Red Bay Church of God. Friday is assessment day for instrumental ensembles and bands.
