Cayman Islands data protection legislation takes effect Sept. 30

According to Hunton Andrews Kurth’s Privacy & Information Security Law Blog, the Cayman Islands Data Protection Law will go into force Sept. 30.

The Office of the Ombudsman will enforce the DPL, which will cost violators up to CI$250,000. The DPL, which was published in June 2017, includes requirements for the protection of personal data and focuses on eight data protection principles.
