Cayman Airways: Restricted travel rules for some MacBook Pro devices

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a safety notice to all airlines regarding the recall of the older model Apple MacBook Pro Retina Display 15-inch laptops sold between 2015 and 2017.

The FAA said the recall is because the batteries may overheat and pose a fire safety risk aboard aircrafts. The units affected are those primarily sold between September 2015 and February 2017.

As a result of this recall, Cayman Airways Limited (CAL) is advising all passengers travelling with the device that it must be turned off, unplugged, and stowed away for the duration of any Cayman Airways flight, including Cayman Airways Express to and from the Sister Islands.

Cayman Airways thanks all passengers for their understanding and cooperation.
