Caribbean, Central America renewable energy watch

From Bnamericas

The Dominican Republic’s government has authorized the commissioning of Akuo Energy-controlled Parques Eólicos del Caribe’s 50MW Guanillo wind farm (pictured) in Montecristi province after it was inaugurated in June.

Power regulator SIE approved the plant’s operation in the national interconnected power grid after verifying the connection compliance certificate issued by grid coordinator OC, among other requirements.

Meanwhile, the watchdog extended test operations for Grupo Eólico Dominicano’34MW Matafongo wind farm in Peravia province until October 9.

In Panama, public services regulator Asep granted company Eolónica a provisional license for the 80MW La Patrona wind project in La Pava, Coclé province.

Eolónica, backed by Globeleq Mesoamericana Energy, now has 12 months to submit the approved EIS and detailed transmission and distribution connection information, among other requirements to secure the definitive concession.

Patrona takes the number of provisional licenses for wind projects in the country to six for a combined 470MW.
