Calling companies for women’s expo

group_of_women1The Family Resource Centre (FRC) is inviting companies & organisations to take part in the first Wellness of Women (WOW) Exposition to be held in the Cayman Islands.

Set for International Women’s Day (IWD), the expo held at the ARC, Camana Bay on 8 March 2014 will bring together local service providers, practitioners, and facilitators of wellness programmes.

In keeping with this year’s IWD theme, and focus on women’ self-care, the expo will aim to Inspire Change: From the Inside Out in girls and women.

FRC’s Programme Coordinator Miriam Foster says, “We hope attendees will get a chance to explore demonstration classes and presentations on all aspects of wellness, including but not limited to physical, emotional and spiritual.”

She adds, “The truth is, women often do not include themselves on their own list of priorities – which can affect the people they care for as well as themselves. Through this self-care expo, we hope girls and women will get an opportunity to learn skills that will allow them to grow in all aspects of wellness.”

Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in various exercises. Mental and physical health information sessions will also be available.

Companies that wish to participate should:

1)        Provide free 20 minutes classes/sessions from the hours of (9am-2pm). Otherwise, alternative arrangements can be made,

2)        Indicate the space their session will require and a description of what the session will about, and

3)        Promote the event within their organisations.

Organisers also encourage participating businesses to provide promotional items and useful information for women and girls.  Companies must confirm participation by Friday, 14 February.

Ms Foster further commented that by promoting access and exposure to wellness resources corporate participation might encourage girls and women  to make themselves a priority and as a result, inspire change in the way that they view themselves.

Each year IWD celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing attention on areas requiring further action.
