Brac game scheduled for Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup

Fabian Whorms headshotIn a bid to ensure that residents of all three Cayman Islands are able to share the excitement of this inaugural event, the organisers of the first annual Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup are pleased to announce that one of the games in the week-long international football tournament will be played on Cayman Brac.

The Cayman Youth Cup has attracted some of the region’s top youth football clubs, along with some top class teams from even further afield, to participate alongside Cayman’s own national U14 team, in what will be a thrilling battle taking place over five days, from 6th to 11th May. The Cayman Islands national under 14 squad will be doing battle with youth teams from Charlton Athletic (England), IMG Academy (United States), Real Club Deportivo España (Honduras), and Harbour View F.C (Jamaica).

Deputy Premier and Minister for District Administration, Tourism and Transport, Moses Kirkconnell is proud that a match in this important tournament will be played on Cayman Brac.

He states: “Recent important enhancements to the Cayman Brac Playing Field mean that our Sister Islands are able to host football matches to international standards, which is an important part of Government’s vision for stimulating economic growth in the Sister Islands. We are therefore delighted to be able to welcome teams from the Cayman Airways Invitational Youth Cup to enjoy these new facilities and take part in what we anticipate will be a fantastic week-long event, supported by young and old alike.”

The Cayman Youth Cup organisers have launched a contest through social media to allow members of the community the chance to win two free tickets to Cayman Brac on Cayman Airways and free accommodations at The Alexander Hotel to accommodate their viewing of the football match scheduled on May 10th.
