New center will benefit patients throughout the Caribbean

MIAMI, FL December 6, 2018 – Baptist Health International announces the opening of its first PET and CT Imaging Center in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands. Equipped with state-of-the-art positron emission tomography (PET) and computerized tomography (CT) technology, the center will transform the Cayman Islands into a medical destination.

“We are very excited about the inauguration of the PET and CT Imaging Center and the opportunity to provide the people of the Cayman Islands and throughout the Caribbean with this advanced imaging technology,” said Mario A. Mendez, M.D., corporate vice president and chief medical officer at Baptist Health International. “At Baptist Health, we are committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience through high-quality, compassionate care in conjunction with the latest technology.”

The center will serve as a destination not only for patients in the Cayman Islands, but also for others in the Caribbean who do not have access to this imaging technology. The center will facilitate communication and collaboration between doctors on the island and in the region and Baptist Health specialists. It will now be possible to refer patients from the region to Grand Cayman for their PET and CT imaging needs. The opening of the new center reinforces Baptist Health’s commitment to cultivating relationships with international physicians, medical institutions and associations, and insurance organizations.

The inauguration celebration for the PET and CT Imaging Center will take place Thursday, December 6, at Smith Road Centre in George Town. Several dignitaries, including Cayman Islands Cabinet ministers will be in attendance.
