Cayman Islands: Artiem Solutions presents “Gordon Solomon: Cleansing Carnival”

Gordon SolomonArtiem Solutions proudly presents an exhibition of artwork by Caymanian artist Gordon Solomon with a special opening this Thursday (7 July) at the Cayman Catboat Club.

“Cleansing Carnival” is a survey of movements of energy that follow the dancing masses during carnival. These images convey the idea there is a time for carnival; a time for purging before the search begins to find meaning in one’s spiritual life.

“These are shadows of my experience in the carnival; my interactions with the masses, distant memories of me, an agile and young man engaged in sensual dance amid a colourful masquerade of faceless bodies,” explained Mr Solomon, who was awarded the Silver Star Medal for Creativity in the Arts in November 2009 by the Cayman National Cultural Foundation.

“One of my passions has always been to celebrate the creative work of the many talented people who hail from these three islands,” said Mona Lisa Meade, Artiem Solutions Co-Founder and Creative Director.

“What we are doing is working with artists like Gordon to provide added exposure for their works, while at the same time introducing them to new audiences,” she added. “I firmly believe that we should be proud to own and showcase the brilliant work of Caymanians in our homes and businesses.”

All are invited to attend the special opening of “Cleansing Carnival” on Thursday between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Cayman Catboat Club, North Church Street, George Town. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be provided as well as drinks by the locally distilled Seven Fathoms Rum.

The exhibition runs until 23 July and can be viewed Monday to Saturday between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Viewings outside this time can be arranged by emailing [email protected] or by calling 925-5852/924-0652.
