Altercation at Bar in George Town Sunday night, 27 March

Yesterday police learned of an incident at Campbell’s Bar on Portland Round which occurred around 10:30PM on Sunday 27th March. It was reported that an altercation had taken place between a number of persons at the location. The police are also investigating a report that a number of gunshots were fired however no one was reported injured.

The matter is under investigation by GT CID and anyone with any information is encouraged to come forward by calling 949-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 800-8477(TIPS)

Firearm Arrest Early Friday Morning, 25 March, in Rock Hole

Just after 2AM Friday morning, 25 March, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre received a report of two men with a firearm in a vehicle in the vicinity of Rock Hole. Officers quickly responded to the location and saw the vehicle along the way. Officers made attempts to stop the vehicle but it did not yield. While travelling along School Road, one of the men exited the vehicle while it was still running and ran from officers. This man was seen with a firearm in his possession and was therefore pursued by officers. He disposed of the gun during the chase. That man, age 18, of George Town, was apprehended and arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. The discarded firearm was later located at the scene of the arrest.

The driver of the vehicle escaped and remains outstanding. The vehicle in which they were travelling in was located and seized by the police.

On Tuesday 29th March, 2016 the man was charged with Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm. He will appear in court tomorrow.
