A spotlight on small Cayman Islands businesses

• Small Business Expo set for Saturday 20 October.
•The expo aims to promote the entrepreneurial spirit of local business owners
• Attendees can take part in presentations and learn from industry experts.

GRAND CAYMAN (GIS) – Small businesses will be on full display at the upcoming Small Business Expo.

The event is hosted by organised by the Cayman Islands Small Business Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, Planning and Infrastructure, as well as Dart Real Estate, Yello Media Group, Cayman National and DHL. A number of small businesses and government departments will participate in this year’s event.

The expo was created to increase the public’s awareness of the small and micro businesses on island, provide an opportunity for small business owners to network, and to educate and motivate participants.

“I encourage the public to come out to the expo to see all that our small and micro businesses have to offer,” states Hon. Joseph Hew, Minister for Commerce.

“As a small business owner myself, I know every step forward helps. Having the opportunity to network and meet with customer helps entrepreneurs to gain insights and gives us better ideas and information on how to thrive in a competitive atmosphere.”

He added, “The small business sector makes a valuable contribution to our economy and provides jobs and other opportunities to our local workforce, and government is committed to supporting the growth and success of small businesses.”

Attendees will be able to take part in presentations which will focus on topics such as marketing, websites, Google display and AdWords, as well as a new health insurance product designed for small businesses.

“We’re really excited about this year’s event,” states Dawn McLean-Brady, President of the Small Business Association. “We’ll have booths both indoors and outdoors, which will allows us to showcase even more businesses than we have in the past. It’s truly a great opportunity for residents to learn more about all the great services and products you can find right here on island, and be part of growing our small business sector.

The expo is set to take place on Saturday 20 October at the Regatta Office Park, Leeward One building from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
