2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League round of 16 matchups and schedule confirmed

16 teams competing for the trophy and a spot in the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League


Miami (Friday, August 9, 2019) – The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) today confirmed the matchups and schedule for the Round of 16 matches of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League. The second round of the expanded competition will take place August 20-22 and 27-29. 

The 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League kicked off in July with a preliminary round, in which 12 clubs participated. After home-and-away play, the six matchup winners – Santa Tecla FC (SLV), SV Robinhood (SUR), Deportivo Saprissa (CRC), Alianza FC (SLV), Hamilton Forge FC (CAN) and Comunicaciones FC (GUA)– have joined the top nine ranked Central American clubs and Waterhouse FC, runner-up of the 2019 Caribbean Club Championship, in the Round of 16. 

The eight Round of 16 parings are as follows:

Matchup #1: FC Motagua (HON) vs Managua FC (NCA)
Matchup #2: CS Herediano (CRC) vs Waterhouse FC (JAM)
Matchup #3: AD San Carlos (CRC) vs Santa Tecla FC (SLV)
Matchup #4: Tauro FC (PAN) vs Alianza FC (SLV)
Matchup #5: CA Independiente (PAN) vs SV Robinhood (SUR)
Matchup #6: CD Aguila (SLV) vs Deportivo Saprissa (CRC)
Matchup #7: CD Guastatoya (GUA) vs Comunicaciones FC (GUA)
Matchup #8: CD Olimpia (HON) vs Hamilton Forge FC (CAN)

The Round of 16 matches are scheduled for August 20-22 and 27-29. The quarterfinals, to be disputed among the eight Round of 16 winners will be played September 24-26 and October 1-3, followed by the semifinals the last two weeks of October. The home-and-away finals will take place November 5-7 and 26-28.

In addition to qualifying its champion to the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, the expanded tournament now qualifies an additional five teams. At the end of the competition, the runner-up, the two semifinalists who didn’t advance to the final and the two best ranked quarterfinals who did not participate in the semifinals, will join the champion in the 2020 edition of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. 

Fans will be able to follow all the action through the Confederation’s partner networks, including TUDN (United States), Yahoo Sports (United States), Fox Sports Latin America (Mexico & Central America), TSN (Canada), Flow Sports (Caribbean) and other local partners. For other territories, the tournament will be available on Concacaf GO (subject to territory restrictions).
