2015 Statistics show improvement in Cayman Islands Education

The annual Compendium of Statistics 2015 was released today by the Economics and Statistics Office. The Compendium is a comprehensive collection of statistics from various public and private sector data sources, covering population, demographics, social and living conditions; the economy, finance and development; the environment; and information and communication technology.

A highlight in the social and living conditions section is the improvement over the years in the examination performance of students in government high schools. “Based on data from the Department of Education, the percentage of examinees who achieved Level 2 Mathematics increased to 52.4% in 2015, compared to 27.5% in 2011, 20.6 % in in 2012, 37.5 % in 2013 and 49.6% in 2014,” noted the Minister for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Marco Archer.

The percentage of students who achieved Level 2 passes in at least 7 entries also improved to 46.0% in 2015, from 22.2% in 2011, 28.1% in 2012 and 44.0% in 2013, albeit it was slightly lower than the 47.5% achieved in 2014.
