Winter Dressage Show warms up Cayman Islands riders

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation (“CIEF”) held its second national dressage show of the season on the 31st of January at The Equestrian Center and Cayman Riding School respectively.

Judge, Amy Gimbel, from New Jersey, USA, presided over both venues. A total of 50 dressage tests were ridden throughout the day with the riders ages ranging from 9 years to adult. Most impressive was the number of adults who were either new to dressage or new to competing in a show. Most notably, Milly Serpell entered the arena again to compete, and won the adult high- point award with an incredible total score of 73.26%. The children’s high-point award went to Jenna Boucher, riding her new horse Edson Arantes MB, scoring 68.69%. Caroline Key, also a newcomer to the competition arena, was delighted to be able to ride her horse Iggy Pop in his first competition in over two years following injury. Caroline also won her Training Level 2 test with a score of 68.46%.

The next national dressage show is scheduled for Sunday, March 6th and will be held at the Equestrian Center from 8:00am to noon, and Cayman Riding School starting at 2:00pm. Visitors are welcome and entry is free.
