WATCH: End orphanage trafficking

From “Miriam Karmali, Freedom United” [email protected]

As we close out National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we are pleased to be joined by Brittany Correll from Go Overseas, an organization placing volunteers abroad, to discuss how the tourism industry can be allies in ending orphanage trafficking.

Orphanage trafficking has recently been formally recognized by national and international agencies as a form of modern slavery, perpetuated by the opportunity presented to traffickers in the form of orphanage volunteering. We sat down with Go Overseas to learn more about the perspective of the tourism industry.

During our conversation we explored the progress the tourism industry is making in acknowledging the harms of orphanage volunteering and what still needs to change.
