Social conservatives are ecstatic with the job President Donald Trump has done so far, Politico reported.

In his first 100 days, Trump has tackled issues important to the group, including steering funding away from Planned Parenthood, cutting off funding for international not-for-profit organizations that perform abortions, placing pro-life Evangelical Christians in critical roles in his administration, appointing Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court, and rescinding Obama’s protections for transgender students to use bathrooms and locker rooms in public schools that match their gender identities.

“I think a generation away we’ll look back at this wild moment, where there were low expectations and fantastic delivery on promises, and we’ll say this was the turning point,” Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List, told Politico.

“How ironic it is that Donald Trump, of all people in the Republican Party, would become a champion for social conservatives,” said Ralph Reed, president of the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

Dannenfelser had opposed Trump during the early part of the presidential campaign but ended up backing him. So did dozens of other Christian leaders who caught flak for their choice, including Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

“It was a leap of faith; Trump was untested,” Dannenfelser said. “It became very hard to stand [by him]. But all that disruption, all that anxiety, all that tension — it was worth it. Because he has turned out to be a man of his word.”
