With respect to the police-involved shooting that occurred in the Windsor Park area of George Town last Friday, 6 January, police can now confirm that the deceased is Norval Maconia Barrett, age 34, of Jamaica.

Yesterday, 8 January, two police officers from the Bermuda Police Service arrived on island; today they assumed control of the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.

At the time of the firearms operation last Friday morning, 6 January, a woman, age 34 of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of knowingly assisting an illegal immigrant to remain in the Cayman Islands (immigration offence).  She is currently on Police bail.
