At about 00:24hrs on Wednesday 20 February 2013 a man was attacked by approximately 5-7 males in the vicinity of the junction of Eastern Avenue and North Church Street.

Authorities received a report of a fight at the location. The police responded and upon arrival no persons were seen. The victim was located in the Watler’s Road area and reported being attacked and beaten.

The assailants demanded money and assaulted him in the process. Nothing was taken; however, he was injured.

The victim refused transport to hospital by ambulance and was escorted to the GTH by the police where he was treated and released.

The matter is being investigated by the GTPS CID, which has identified and arrested five persons, three men and two women, in connection with this incident. These persons will be interviewed and a file submitted to the Legal Department for a ruling.
